IRRIWEST Project is aimed at enhance irrigation practices in West Africa in order to optimize water resources management, increase agricultural productivity, enhance irrigation efficiency and increase cereal and vegetable crops productivity through the testing and transfer of ICT and innovative irrigation advisory services.
This main objective comes in four variants as are fellow :
- Develop and adjust a soil water balance model for determining irrigation requirements of crops such as rice and vegetables.
- Design, development and implementation of a sensor network for monitoring environmental parameters.
- Design, development, implementation and testing of an ICT-based irrigation advisory service.
- Build on target stakeholders`capacities in irrigation and ICT technologies and foster replicability to other African regions through wide spread dissemination of the project outcomes.
